PMP QUERY

PMP QUERY

I was recently contacted by a person interested in appearing for PMP Exam and he asked me some clarifications. I am reproducing his queries and my responses for the guidance of whole wide world. It is very brief and to the point.

QUESTION

I am having trouble getting my first PMP certification. I found the metered test not very characteristic of the materials that I studied. If there is any method of study to prepare for the exams that is preferable, I would appreciate knowing it, or any resources. I found the test not hard but I was not able to finish it. A person has to read to quickly to answer the questions. Consequently I did not do well. I have eyesight issues as well and may have to get the special accommodations for the test. Any advice or resources are appreciated.

ANSWER

Thank you for contacting me and I will be pleased to be connected with you. About your PMP prep, I would advice you to go through PMBOK Guide at least thrice and you must understand it fully well. Do not try to remember anything by heart, try to understand the concepts and relate them to your experience. As the questions are mostly scenario based, so when you try attempting questions, always keep the PMBOK Guide at the top of your head and then relate it to your scenario from your experience. Do not try to answer any questions just based on your experience. As the time is less, you must be able t speed-read even in the exam. If you feel any question not understandable, do not try to read it again and again, just skip it and move forward. You know you can always come back later to address unanswered questions. For your eye-sight issues, I strongly recommend you take the special arrangements in exam and zoom the questions big enough to see and read them comfortably. Do contact me if you need any further advice.
